Make hot ice

Why?

Tricks the eye into thinking the impossible is as simple a single chemical reaction.

Categorizing this tutorial is one of the great challenges for an internet librarian: magic trick or science experiment?

Our crew made our own hot ice lab, which in effect ruined the kitchen table. So, word of caution. To replicate this, you need to be more scientist than magician.

Very cool...

i'd love to see some practical applications

Your creating a super saturated solution, it isnt turning to ice, it's crystallizing.

whatever, it looks realistic enough to fool my friends

okay, im a magician. this will be a cool trick. that's practical.

what happens if you poke it and leave your finger in the liquid/ice?

youre screwed!

awsome

how long does it take to melt or is it like dry ice

i heard that sodium acetate is poisonous, so i wouldn't put it in someone's drink

it's called food grade sodium acetate, you can eat it but it tastes nasty

Omg! just touch it and it turns to ice!! lol THATS SO COOL!!

is thr a time limit on to how long til it freezes or does it have to be disturbed or what

K So im def. trying this one.

I have some. it gets realy hot. Same stuff that is in some of does hand and boot warmers that they sale at ski places for 2$ each little pack. Now If you or your freind have access to a food saver bag sealer you can make your own reusable hand warmers. the food grade bags used for "Food savers can be boiled and frozen. I keep some in my snowmobile.

will it instantly freeze or do i have to poke it or what?

AWESOME

damn nigga dats duh coodest #$%@ eva

Can someone who has tried this tell me if it freezes from time, or if it actually is your touch?

it freezes when you ad a crystal of sodium acetate.

i let my supersaturated liqued cool in the fridge overnight. when i checked it in the morning long (about 1.5 to 2 centimeter), very thin crystals had grown in the bottom of the glass. they survive at room temp to this day (about 3 weeks) in an airtight container. can some one tell me what they are? are they pure sodium acetate?

how much water and sodium acetate do u need?

i ned the? name this music...plz
